Integrating Voices of Refugees & Immigrants
Faculty & Curriculum Development
Humanities Conference on Refugee and Immigrant Studies
This non-traditional conference brought together humanities scholars; leaders of refugee and immigrant NGOs; refugees and immigrants; and undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. The conference created a space for dialogue among scholars, students, and the people closest to the issues we are seeking to understand. Events included oral history listening stations, panels, poster presentations, a mentorship dinner to give students the opportunity to network with NGO leaders, talks by guest speakers Samuel Johnson (My Vision for Refugees) and Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana (Baruch College), and a reading by Marcelo Hernandez Castillo (author of Children of the Land: a Memoir).
